Rutgers Wrestling Treks to Hofstra for Journeymen Tussle

RU to compete against Hofstra, NC State, UPenn, Citadel, Brown, and Campbell

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – No. 12 Rutgers wrestling takes a week off from dual competition to partake in the 2016 Journeymen Tussle on Sunday, Dec. 4, hosted by Hofstra in Hempstead, New York.

The Tussle will stream live on FloWrestling beginning at 9:45 a.m. The tournament is pool-play at each weight class, with each wrestler guaranteed three matches. Other schools competing along with Hofstra and Rutgers are North Carolina State, UPenn, Citadel, Brown and Campbell.

RU went 1-1 last weekend at the "Grapple at the Garden," defeating Columbia, 39-3, and losing to No. 8 Cornell, 28-10. The Scarlet Knights are tabbed No. 12 in the USA Today/NWCA Coaches Poll for the third-straight week. RU is also No. 13 by Intermat and No. 17 by FloWrestling.

Five Scarlet Knights are ranked this week by Intermat. Anthony Ashnault, ranked fifth at 141 pounds, Richie Lewis, ranked No. 6 at 157, and Ken Theobold, ranked No. 10 at 149 pounds, represent RU in the top 10.

No. 19 133-pounder Tyson Dippery and 157-pounder John Van Brill lead the team with 8-1 records.
